Ok so I told myself that the fabulous Marc Jacobs Carla Tote was to be my last major purchase for the year. Well… that didn’t exactly happen. You see, there I was minding my own business, reading a few Twitter updates and I came across a tweet posted by one of my favorite online shops, Luna Boston, about their Labor Day promotion… I’m sure you know where this is going, heh.

Yes that’s right, I caved and bought myself another bag. :P It’s a clutch actually. More specifically a lovely Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Clutch (or MAC) in this amazing color called Electric Fuchsia.

Tell me that’s not a gorgeous color?    The Electric Fuchsia color caught my eye immediately because it’s such a bold, statement making shade of pink. And I also love the antiqued silver hardware. I find that not a lot of handbags have silver hardware, it’s mostly gold or brass. That’s fine and all but a girl’s gotta have options y’know? ;)

Additionally, I have this very same clutch in black (which I bought a couple years ago) and it’s such a fantastic ‘going out’ bag.  It holds quite a lot despite the size and it’s perfect for days when you don’t want to lug around a big bag.  It’s also easily carried cross body or as a chic clutch for evenings.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention the best part!  This bag is listed at $295 but I received 25% off due the the holiday weekend and on top of that an additional $10 off because I had a few LB Luxe Reward points to redeem. Then there’s the lovely free shipping and no tax so this little gem only set me back a mere $211.25 – not bad, right? ;) It’s a pre-order so I’m not too sure when it will arrive but it has an estimated ship/arrival date of September 7th so hopefully sooner rather than later. I’ll be sure to take loads of photos when I receive it. :)

I’d like to introduce you to my new love, the Marc Jacobs Classic Carla Tote in Black.  This is from the Spring/Summer 2010 line and it was ordered through Nordstrom, it arrived via UPS this afternoon.

Isn’t she a gorgeous?! I opened the dust bag and fell in love.  This is only my 2nd black handbag (my 1st being the LV Epi Leather Speedy 25) and it’s now part of my “holy grail” collection.

The leather is extremely soft but not too fragile that I’d worry about every day wear and tear.  I fell in love with this handbag because it reminded me a lot of the “old school” Marc Jacobs handbags, in particular the Venetia.  I missed out on getting the Venetia satchel and have regretted it ever since. The Carla is similar in size and style without the extras (like overdone hardware and what not). And you all should know by now that I love satchels.  I adore the simplicity of the design and slight quirkiness of the over-sized push button closures on the front pockets as well as the side/bottom zipper which allows you to expand the bag about 1.5 inches.

I’m a total handbag lover and I have quite a few handbags that I adore (quality over quantity!!) and so I thought it would be fun to showcase a few of them, by designer, once in a while. Of course, I couldn’t not start off with one of my favorite designers! ;)

All my friends and family know I’m a huge Marc Jacobs fan. I can’t get enough of his quirky style and fabulous accessories.  He continually creates fabulous handbags season after season that are definitely worthy of their price tags.

As you can see my MJ collection is quite modest, to say the least. My biggest splurge (so far) has been the Stam (bought in 2007) and I absolutely cannot get enough of that bag. It’s a stand out in my handbag collection and one I can see myself using until I’m 80 hah.

I’ve yet to find another Marc Jacobs handbag that I “need” enough to get. Although I do adore his current line, I some how always manage to talk myself out of getting it for some reason. One of these days it won’t be so easy for me to walk away! ;)
